The Mighty Lion Band is the fastest growing tradition in the Southeast. Ensembles within the band program are gaining national and recognition through their many performances. The Mighty Lion Band is a great source of pride to students, alumni, and fans of EMCC.
Band plays a important part in Lion Pride at EMCC. Membership in the program is comprised of students from almost every program offered on campus. Band membership provides students with opportunities to develop their musicianship, social skills, and leadership, regardless of their field of study. Students in the Mighty Lion Band represent many counties of Mississippi.
The rapidly growing Mighty Lion Band performs at all Lion football games as well as other university functions as needed. Various ensembles comprise the concert and auxiliary components of the band program. In addition to the marching and concert bands, students may also participate in jazz band, rock band and basketball pep band. The Mighty Lion Band also offers Color Guard and Percussion technique classes as well.
